What is the rich multimodal task that the students will create at the end of this unit?


The year four students will be required to create a 6 slide PowerPoint presentation on the topic of Koalas. This presentation will be a representation of the content students have learnt during their Koala: A Native Australian Animal unit.

In this presentation, students will be required to include:

1. A title page that represents the topic of Koalas (Slide 1)
· 2. Each of the following 6 slides providing factual information on a different aspect associated with Koalas, these including:
- Appearance (Slide 2) - Habitat (Slide 3)- Diet (Slide 4) - Movement (Slide 5)- Reproduction (Slide 6)
NOTE: students can use more than 6 slides if needed.
3. Analytical structured and analytical unstructured images to support the text on each slide. Students can downloaded these images from the internet, use the photos taken at the class excursion to the zoo or scan the analytical structured images they create in class. (NOTE: there should be atleast one image on each slide of the PowerPoint presentation however, these images must show modal coherence with the written text).

s4. 4. Each slide should also include sound effects to enhance the meaning presented on each slide as well as a recorded voice over that reads the written text on each slide.
